Our client, a premier safari company operating several Camps and Lodges across Kenya that offers immersive safari experiences and luxury accommodations is seeking to recruit an Assistant Camp Manager.

JOB PURPOSE

As the Assistant Camp Manager, you will ensure guest satisfaction and staff development within the established Quality Standards.

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Coordinate leave schedules in consultation with HR to maintain service standards.

  • Ensure staff adherence to grooming standards and accountability for issued uniforms.

  • Implement fair disciplinary measures in consultation with HR and ensure all disciplinary meetings and measures are documented, signed by both parties and filed in compliance with the company disciplinary code.

  • Facilitate effective communication at all levels within the organization adhering to brand standards (written or verbal).

  • Foster teamwork and commitment among the team towards achieving company goals.

  • Assist in creating staff rosters and task allocations on a weekly/monthly basis.

  • Monitor service delivery to guests in alignment with company standards, handle guest request, assess needs and resolve issues promptly.

  • Address customer problems and complaints to maximize satisfaction.

  • Collaborate with Yield Management for revenue maximization and upselling for the camps aimed at achieving the annual budget.

  • Control operational costs within budget while maintaining guest quality.

  • Submit required reports to management within specified deadlines.

  • Familiarize with and comply with the OSHA Act 2007- Health & Safety Policies and Regulations and ensure staff compliance to Covid-19 Health & Safety Guidelines and protocols.

  • Ensure staff compliance with company policies, procedures, and codes.

  • Make decisions consistent with company policies and objectives.

  • Monitor and improve sustainable eco-practices within the camp.

  • Enhance system accuracy and responsiveness.

  • Improve performance measurement and reporting capabilities.

  • Strengthen financial analysis, controls, audit capabilities and manage risk efficiently and effectively.

  • Prepare and participate in business review and strategy monthly sessions when called upon.

  • Manage emergencies and incidents ensuring all safety protocols are followed and that the information is passed onto all concerned expeditiously e.g., in cases of fire, general accident, damage to property, potential negative guest feedback, stranded guests, death and environmental accidents.

  • Implement actions to prevent recurring incidents.

  • Communicate incidents promptly (within 24 hours) to relevant stakeholders and management.

 

EDUCATION QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS, AND TRAITS


  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field.

  • Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial role within the hospitality industry.

  • Effective communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Knowledge of health & safety regulations and procedures.

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and handle emergencies.

  • Proficiency in MS Office and hospitality management software.

  • Team player with a customer-centric approach.
